As mentioned in the previous chapter, category and item notes appear within the body of the menu on the tray tickets. The difference is that with category notes, the text appears with any item in that category (Entree, starch, vegetable, etc.). While the Item note it appears only for specific food items (e.g., baked chicken, cheerio's, carrots, etc.) with which an item note has been attached. Here's how to add an item note.
To Add an Item Note:
1.From the resident profile page / Notes tab select Item Notes.
2.Any current notes are displayed. Click Add an Item Note to add a new note.
3.The Add a category note selection screen is displayed.
4.Enter the food item you want to add a note to. Select the item from any list that appears.
5.In the Item Note field, enter the note you want to add to this category. If the note is listed, select that note. If it is not listed, enter it in the way you would like it listed. Click "Create" to create the new note.
6.When you are through making the selections for the notes, click Add. The notes are added as specified.
You can also find it helpful to use the Group Food feature with Item Notes. If you attach an item note to a group food, the system will print the note directly beneath any item in the group. See Category/Item Notes in the Setup Parameters folder for more information. This is especially helpful when you need to indicate "Thickened Liquids" for a resident. This is detailed in the sub-chapter Thickened Liquids Group.
